What happens if I lose my Café Gift Card, or it is stolen

We encourage card holders to register their Café Choice  Gift Cards via the website, so in the event that your card is Lost, stolen or damaged, our team can see what options are available for you. Without a card number, we are unable to assist in locating any details of your card. Expired Gift Cards cannot be replaced or refunded. Please refer to the terms and conditions.

How long is my Café Choice gift card valid for?

Your gift card is valid for the period listed on the front of the card.

My gift card is invalid, what can I do?

Gift cards are activated at the point of sale. If your gift card is invalid this often means that the merchant did not properly activate the card.

If the gift card was bought in store, please go back to the store with your gift card and sales receipt to have it activated.

If your gift card was bought online, please email us with your card number and order ID.

If you have received your gift card as a gift, please check where it was purchased with the person who gave you the gift card.

Is the balance updated automatically?

Yes. Each time you use a Café Choice Gift Card, the purchase amount is automatically deducted from the Card balance. If the transaction is declined the funds are not deducted as there is not enough balance to allow the transaction to be completed. You, the cardholder, can check the balance of your Gift Card online at www.cafechoicegiftcard.com.au

Can Café Choice Gift Card be reloaded with value?

No, these Gift Cards cannot be re-loaded.

What happens if I have not used all the funds when the Café Choice Gift Card expires?

Whatever value is left on the Gift Card after its expiry will not be available to you. We encourage you to use your Gift Card before it expires.

Do I receive change on a Café Choice Gift Card transaction?

No. The Gift Card can be used until the balance reaches a nil value, no matter how small the balance.

Can I see a list of transactions made with the Café Choice eGift Card?

Are there any fees for using the Café Choice Gift Card or checking the Gift Card balance or transaction history?

There are no fees for checking your gift card balance or transaction history. A Currency Conversion fee of 3.5% applies for foreign currency transactions. This conversion fee amount is calculated at time of purchase, and the balance of your card must be sufficient to cover both the purchase and currency conversion fee. Please note that some countries may have limits and restrictions on accepting prepaid Visa gift cards.

How do I pay a bill with my Café Choice gift card?

When paying your restaurant bill, present your gift card to the restaurant and let them know what amount you wish to pay with your gift card. You can choose to either pay the full bill with your gift card (if your balance is sufficient), or you can split the payment between your gift card and another payment method.

Your Café Choice Gift Card works the same as a Visa debit card. It can be used at thousands of restaurants, bars, cafes & fast-food establishments that accept EFTPOS or Visa cards around Australia.

When paying your restaurant bill, present your gift card to the restaurant and let them know what amount you wish to pay with your gift card. You can choose to either pay the full bill with your gift card (if your balance is sufficient), or you can split the payment between your gift card and another payment method.

To redeem your Café Choice physical Gift Card in-store:

Simply present your Café Choice gift card

Swipe your card, select “Savings” if you have an EFTPOS card or select “Credit” if you have a Visa Card and when asked for the PIN, enter the 4-digit PIN that is under the scratch panel on the back of the Gift Card.

If the value of the purchase is more than the amount of the gift card, you can supplement the additional value with cash or another payment method that is accepted by the restaurant.

Do I have to spend the entire amount of the Café Choice Gift Card in a single purchase?

No. Gift Cards are partially redeemable. Within the Gift Card’s validity period, any available balance can be used for multiple purchases at any participating restaurants.

Where can I use my Café Choice gift card?

You can use your Café Choice gift card at thousands of restaurants, bars, cafes & fast-food establishments that accept EFTPOS or Visa cards around Australia.

The Café Choice Gift Card can be used at the following merchant category locations: Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Hotels, Caterers (5811), Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), Bars, Taverns, Cocktail lounges, Nightclubs and Discotheques (5813) Fast Food Restaurants (5814) Motels & Resorts, Central Merchant (7011), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996).

The Merchant Category Code (MCC) identifies the type of service a business provides. If the MCC listed above does not match the retailer’s category, then the transaction will decline.

Can I spend my gift card at any time?

Yes. Your gift card can be spent at any time as long as your gift card is valid and your card’s balance is in credit.

My gift card did not work in a restaurant, what can I do?

Please note, paying with your gift card is processed as a standard Visa transaction. Please confirm that the restaurant staff attempted to process your payment with your gift card as a Visa transaction. If your gift card still does not work, for assistance please contact us with the restaurant’s details, the details of your visit, and your gift card’s number.

Is the physical Card required to be used at the EFTPOS pin pad to authorise my purchase when using a Café Choice Gift Card?

The restaurant must use the pin pad provided when redeeming a Café Choice Gift Card for goods or services as directed by the POS terminal.

If you’ve already added your Café Choice Gift Card to your mobile wallet, then you will not require your physical card.

Can Café Choice Gift Cards be used to make purchases online?

Yes, Café Choice Gift Cards can now be used online.

In-store purchases: If your purchase is larger than your balance, ask the cashier to swipe the gift card for the exact amount available on the card. Then pay the remaining balance with another form of payment. These are called “split transactions.” Some merchants do not allow cardholders to carry out split transactions. Some merchants will only allow you to do a split transaction if you pay the remaining amount in cash.

Online purchases:  Online merchants don’t have the capabilities to perform split credit transactions.

How do I add my Café Choice Digital eGift Card to my mobile wallet?

Café Choice Gift Cards can be added to your Apple, Samsung, or Google mobile wallet.

Apple, Google, and Samsung Wallets have limits to the total number of cards a user can have in their wallet at any one time, and they also have their own security process that may stop a user from being able to add a card to their digital wallet. Café Choice Choice Gift Cards has no discretion on these security controls put in place by Apple, Google, or Samsung Wallets.

I’m having trouble paying with my Apple, Samsung, or Google mobile wallet, what should I do?

Make sure the card details are correct by double-checking that what you’ve entered exactly matches your card number, expiry date and CVV. If you still can’t complete a contactless payment, try again with the below tips or reach out to the wallet provider directly for further assistance.

Make sure your phone is awake and unlocked.

Hold your phone in a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or middle of your device.

Hold your phone closer to the payment reader.

Hold your phone close to the payment reader for a few more seconds.

Do I need to register my Café Choice Digital eGift card to make purchases?

Yes, your Café Choice eGift card must be registered via the registration link on the email you receive to use your Gift Card. You will not be provided with card details until the card has been registered.

When registering your Café Choice eGift, we require information, including name, telephone number and email address of the cardholder be verified prior to making purchases.

Physical cards do not need to be registered prior to use.

Can I use Cafe Choice Gift Cards to get cash out of the ATM?

No, the Café Choice Gift Card cannot be used to withdraw cash at ATM or EFTPOS facilities.
